how to write SOLC2026 #1

I recently read The Correspondent by Virginia Evans and loved it for many reasons.

The story is about/by a letter writer, and at one point she is interviewed about how to write a letter. The following quote from the book can serve as an inspiration to us all as we begin another enlightening and challenging month of March Slice of Life writing.

These are some good reminders about how best to get our thoughts into words – whether by hand or computer, on paper or on a screen.

“Remember: words, especially those written, are immortal.”

I also believe, “…one ought to be precious with communication.”

I have no doubt of the source of my personal inspiration and my own ability, because I know that whatever I am able to do comes from my relationship with the Lord.

As much as I appreciate a well-chosen word or well-turned phrase, I am even more grateful for THE Word – made flesh – that brings LIFE to all our words. He brings life – and words – to me.

Happy Writing, everyone!

I just wrote a bit about the same book! I listened to the audiobook, so I completely forgot about the part where you begin with a thank you. I’ll tuck that away for next time. Thank you for posting these important words, all of them.

  3. I’m reading it now. So lovely. My book club is discussing it this month. Want to come?

Such good and important advice. Choosing the right word can change the entire meaning of what is written.

  9. I loved The Correspondent. But above all THE WORD.

This book has been on my list, but I haven’t read it yet. I never thought about words being immortal. That is pretty profound. I love the ending to your slice. I am trying to read the entire Bible this year with the help of an app. I am a little behind, but it sill fills me like no other.

Thanks for reading! Please leave a comment so I can know what is on YOUR mind!
