the waiting season

What is wrong with this picture?

empty porch

That’s right – there’s nothing there. This is our screened porch, which is a favorite spot during the warmer months. Except then, and normally, it is not empty.

This weekend we brought in all the furniture and accessories, as we do every year.

You see, despite last week’s cold and ice and snow, we are experiencing signs of the coming spring everywhere. And with that comes the pollen season. We are surrounded by multitudes of trees, and in order for them to transform themselves into leaf-laden shelters, the spring sprouting and seeding must occur.

The pollen during that time is omnipresent. It scatters and seeps and spreads. So it is easier to bring in our outdoor furnishings and just wait it out. Before too long we’ll be enjoying sitting on the porch again.

But spring – and new life and growth and the warmth of the sun – is most definitely worth the wait!

Such a warm and inviting porch…I can just imagine sitting there sipping on a glass of tea. Spring can’t be too far off now! (can it???)
